Dear Colleagues,

We hope you had a great weekend!  Here’s this week’s news and updates from the Digital History Lab.

  • The DHL has begun production on the first episodes of its new podcast, The Cutting Room Floorand episodes will be released on Soundcloud, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts in the coming weeks.  The show provides a platform for historians to share short and engaging stories they find in their research that don’t easily fit into larger projects.  Several grad students and faculty from the department have already signed up to record episodes–if you have an interesting story from your own research, please email dhl@unc.edu to discuss.
  • The next meeting of the Digital History Working Group is next Wednesday, April 14 at 4 pm.  Professor Joe Glatthaar will share his work with statistical analysis software for his upcoming book.  All are welcome to join–email us for the Zoom link.
  • The Public Humanities Design Studio at UC-Merced is hosting a webinar on Tropy this Thursday, April 8 at 10 PST / 1 EST.  Tropy is an open software platform for cataloging and tagging images in your research.  Register for the webinar here.

As always, the DHL is happy to consult on digital tools and strategies for teaching and research.  For questions, thoughts, or scheduling a meeting, email us at dhl@unc.edu.

Thanks!

Gabe, Emma, Craig, and Ash
